The OysterBayMusicFestival returns to Congregation L’Dor V’Dor with Cantor Talya Smilowitz. The Festival’s Performance Intensive provides a week long of coaching, master classes, and seminars in chamber music, performance skills, audition preparation, body awareness and healthy movement. Designed for highly gifted musicians ages 16-26 (including pianists, classical singers, woodwinds, and strings), Performance Intensive students, together with festival faculty and guest artists, present solo and chamber music repertoire on classical music concerts twice daily in informal and formal settings throughout the village of OysterBay.
In addition to serving as our cantor, Talya Smilowitz discovered her passion for singing, dancing and acting at an early age. Born and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut, she later trained and graduated from the Juilliard School. In addition, she received a degree in vocal performance from the Manhattan School of Music. Talya has appeared in prestigious venues all over the world, including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Broadway stage, as well as Opera and Symphony Halls in China.
